Problem:
For this project we needed to create a design that would be placed on a brick and put within a new housing building. These designs needed to represent the estate in some way.
Insight:
There is a well-known piece of artwork on the estate that will be destroyed after the building is knocked down.
Creative proposition:
The past will live on with the new art.
Solution
For my brick design, I wanted to pay tribute to an art project done over 30 years ago, which my mum was part of, that featured 3 paintings: a dinosaur, a chicken/hen and a fish. These paintings represented the evolution of Burgess Park - the park across the road from the estate. Therefore, once the buildings are knocked down in order to create newer houses, these paintings will still live on to tell the story but through my brick design.
